Wet plate Collodion is an archaic, forgotten process that was invented in 1851. By 1880 this process was considered obsolete and was quickly succeeded by dry plate. The photographs are made on glass or aluminium plates by coating them with a collodion solution and sensitising them with silver nitrate. The plates are then placed in the back of a large format camera and an exposure is made. The process is complex and technique-driven, requiring patience and practice. It will take me a life-time to master...this is just the beginning...
